Jehu

The eleventh king of Israel. While serving in the army, Jehu was chosen by God to take the place of King Joram, the son of Ahab. The prophet Elisha told a younger prophet to go to the army post where Jehu was stationed and anoint him king of Israel. The prophet told Jehu that he must strike down the rulers who were relatives of Ahab. Jehu did as he was told. Joram was killed and so was Jezebel, wife of Ahab. Jehu was king for twenty-eight years.
