Jethro

Moses’s father-in-law. Moses lived with him in Midian and shepherded his sheep for forty years before Moses returned to Egypt to lead the Israelites out of slavery. While Moses was in the wilderness with the people of Israel, Jethro came to visit him. He saw how overworked Moses was as he tried to advise the people. He suggested that Moses appoint judges to help him in less important matters. Moses took his advice.
