Judas Iscariot

The disciple who betrayed Jesus. He served as treasurer for the disciples. Although they trusted Judas, Jesus knew all along that Judas would betray Him.

When a woman came and put expensive ointment on Jesus’s feet, Judas complained that the money it cost could have been used to feed many poor people. However, he did not really care about the poor—he just wanted the money.

We do not know why Judas finally decided to lead the enemies of Jesus to Him. The Bible says the chief priests paid him thirty pieces of silver. After Jesus was arrested, Judas felt so guilty for what he had done that he took the money and tried to give it back to the priests, but they refused it. He finally threw it on the floor of the temple. Then he went and hanged himself.
