Judea

The Old Testament name for the part of Palestine to which many Jews returned after they had been exiled in Babylonia. Since most of these people were from the tribe of Judah, the land was called Judea. In the New Testament, Judea refers to the southern part of Israel. It extended from the southern part of the Dead Sea north about sixty miles. It included Bethlehem, Jerusalem, and Jericho.
