Lamentations, Book of

An Old Testament book of poems Jeremiah wrote around 580 BC, after Jerusalem was destroyed. Babylon had captured Judah and taken many of the people away. The people left in Jerusalem were suffering. Although they worked very hard, many were hungry. Their friends and families were far away. Jeremiah suffered with them. He put his and their feelings into words in the poems in Lamentations. Even when Jeremiah was very discouraged, he was able to write about God’s great faithfulness.
