Macedonia

A Roman province in New Testament times located in the northern part of modern Greece. It was the first part of Europe to hear about Jesus. The apostle Paul visited Macedonia many times. Paul first traveled to Macedonia after he had a vision of a man asking for help. Paul left right away and landed at Philippi, the leading city in Macedonia. There he met Lydia, and when she accepted Christ, the first church in Europe began.
