Mordecai

A relative and adviser to Queen Esther. Mordecai and Esther lived in Susa, the Persian capital, about 486–465 BC. After Esther became the king’s wife, Mordecai saved the king’s life by warning him of a plot against him. But when an angry Haman tried to have Mordecai and all the Jews killed, Mordecai told Esther she should reveal to the king that she was Jewish and try to get the king to protect her people. Esther succeeded. After Haman’s death, Mordecai replaced Haman as chief minister to the king.
