Pray/Prayer
A conversation with God. But prayer is much more than asking God for things we want. Prayer includes praising God, giving thanks for His blessings, admitting when we’ve done wrong, asking Him for help, and asking God to help other people. Isaac prayed for his wife to give birth. Hannah prayed for a son. Solomon prayed a prayer of dedication when the temple was completed. Jesus prayed often: when He was baptized, when He chose His disciples, whenever He healed people, and especially when He faced hard times. When the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray, Jesus taught them a prayer we call the Lord’s Prayer.
The Bible teaches that when we pray we must have faith that God hears and will answer our prayers. The Holy Spirit will lead us in praying if we ask Him. We also must have a forgiving heart if we want God to forgive us.
