Stones of Remembrance

When Joshua led the people of Israel to cross the Jordan River into Canaan, God caused the waters of the Jordan River to stop flowing. Joshua and the men of Israel gathered stones from the middle of the Jordan to remember the occasion. Twelve stones were taken—

one for each tribe.
