Tempt/Temptation

The lure or pressure to do something wrong. Satan tempts us to do evil, sometimes working through our own desires. Satan first appeared in the form of a serpent to Eve, who gave in to the temptation Satan offered. Satan used these same ideas to tempt Jesus in the wilderness after Jesus fasted forty days. But Jesus resisted the temptation by using verses from the Bible. His resistance showed that He was the Son of God and that resistance God offers help when we are tempted.
