Timothy, 1 and 2

First Timothy was probably written about AD 63, while Paul was in Philippi between his first and second imprisonments in Rome. Timothy was serving as the leader over the churches in Ephesus. Paul treated Timothy like a son. Paul and Timothy had a deep friendship, and these letters are full of advice from Paul. Second Timothy is the last known letter of Paul before he was executed in Rome around AD 64. Knowing that he was near the end of his life, Paul wrote about Jesus as the conqueror of death, and the joy he was going to have in being with Christ. Paul warned Timothy that he probably would suffer persecution as Paul had.
