Titus

A friend and helper of the apostle Paul. He was a son of Gentile parents and may have become a Christian after listening to Paul preach. Later, he went with Paul to Jerusalem to meet with Jewish Christians there. These Jewish Christians did not realize that a Gentile could become a Christian without becoming a Jew first. In time, Titus became so well accepted that he was given many responsibilities among the early churches. Later, Titus became a pastor of the church on the island of Crete. Paul wrote a letter to him there.
