Triumphal Entry/Palm Sunday

Jesus’s kingly entrance into Jerusalem on the Sunday before His crucifixion. He came riding a colt, a sign that He was on a mission of peace, not war. Conquering generals rode on horses or in chariots. Jesus rode the donkey colt to fulfill a prophecy by the Old Testament prophet Zechariah. As Jesus entered the city from the Mount of Olives, His followers shouted and sang, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! … Hosanna in the highest!” (Mark 11:9–10 esv) Palm branches were laid in the road for the colt to walk on. Some people even spread their clothes in the road. Their enthusiasm filled the city. Each Palm Sunday we remember that day.
