Uzzah

An Israelite man who died instantly after touching the ark of the covenant. The ark was so holy it was not to be touched. After the Philistines returned the ark they stole from Israel, it was kept in the house of Abinadab, Uzzah’s father. When King David and many people in Israel went to retrieve the ark, it was placed on a new cart pulled by oxen. Uzzah and his brother, Ahio, drove the cart. During the journey, the oxen stumbled, and Uzzah reached out to steady the ark and died.
