Woman at the Well

This unnamed Samaritan woman talked with Jesus by a well in Samaria. Jesus’s conversation with the woman amazed His disciples, because Jewish men didn’t normally talk to women in public and because the Jews and the Samaritans didn’t get along.

Jesus’s knowledge about the woman proved that He was no ordinary man. The woman had a bad reputation in her town, which was proved when she came out to gather water in the middle of the day. Usually, women gathered water at the beginning of the day or during the evening when the weather cooled off. Because of Jesus’s kindness, this woman quickly ran to tell everyone about Him.
