Yoke

A wood frame that harnessed two animals together for heavy work. Oxen were often yoked to pull a plow, wagon, or other farm equipment. The yoke was also a symbol of obedience for people. Jeremiah wore a yoke as a sign that the people were to submit to the conquering Babylonians. In the New Testament, yoke is a word picture for demands or burdens. Jesus invited people to take His yoke to join themselves to Him and His work. Loving and serving Him may look hard, but it is really easy when He helps us.
