Plagues on Egypt
Ten disasters God allowed to convince the pharaoh to let the Israelites leave Egypt. Although some of these plagues could be considered natural disasters, their timing was arranged by God to fulfill His purpose for the Hebrews. The plagues:
1.
Water became blood.
2. Frogs swarmed throughout all of the land.
3.
Swarms of gnats (lice, sand flies, or fleas) came.
4.
Swarms of flies came in great numbers.
5.
Cattle became diseased. While the cattle of the Egyptians died, the cattle of the people of Israel survived.
6.
Boils or sores infected people and animals.
7.
Hail destroyed animals and crops.
8.
Locusts ate the crops that were just coming out of the ground and had not been destroyed by the hail.
9.
Darkness covered the land for three days.
10.
The oldest child in each family and the firstborn cattle all died. The Israelites were protected by God from this terrible plague by sprinkling the blood of the Passover lamb on their doorposts.
