Zipporah
The wife of Moses. Her father was Jethro, a priest of Midian. Moses met Zipporah after he fled from Egypt. She and her six sisters were drawing water for their father’s flock, but some shepherds drove them away. Moses protected the sisters and helped them. Their grateful father invited Moses to live with them and eventually gave Zipporah to Moses as his wife.
Zipporah and Moses had two sons, Gershom and Eliezer. When Moses returned to Egypt after forty years in Midian, Zipporah and their two sons went with him. Sometime during the conflict with Pharaoh or the beginning of the exodus, Moses sent Zipporah and their two sons back to her father’s home. After Moses and the Israelites crossed the Red Sea, Zipporah, her two sons, and her father came to the Israelite camp near Mount Sinai. The Bible states that after a short visit, Jethro returned home. It does not say whether Zipporah and her sons stayed with Moses or went back to Midian.
