Athaliah

The only woman to reign over Judah. She was the daughter of Ahab. After her son, King Ahaziah, was killed, she ordered all of her grandsons to be killed, so that she could take the throne. She reigned for over six years. One infant son, Joash, escaped with the help of his aunt. When the child was later crowned king, Athaliah heard crowds cheering and went into the temple, arriving just after Joash was crowned. At the order of the priest, she was killed as soon as she left the temple.
