Ethiopian Officer

A treasurer for Candace, the queen of Ethiopia. He was a Gentile who had become interested in the Jewish religion. After he traveled to Jerusalem to worship, he was sitting in his chariot, reading aloud in Isaiah 53. Philip the evangelist, who was sent by the Holy Spirit, asked if he understood what he was reading. Philip explained that Isaiah 53 was a prophecy about Jesus the Messiah. The officer believed in Jesus and was baptized.
