James, the apostle

One of Jesus’s twelve disciples. His brother was the apostle John. James was a fisherman in Galilee when Jesus invited him to become one of His disciples. He was one of the three most well-known disciples along with Jesus at several important moments—

such as Jesus’s time on the Mount of Transfiguration where Jesus’s appearance was changed; when Jesus prayed in Gethsemane before His crucifixion; and when Jesus raised the daughter of Jairus from death. James was killed by Herod Agrippa I in AD 44.
