Joash
The ninth king of Judah, who ruled for forty years (835–796 BC). When he was a baby, everyone else in the royal family, including his father, was murdered. Joash was saved by his aunt and uncle, who hid him for seven years. At first he took advice from his godly uncle and ruled well. Later he began to worship idols. When Zechariah, the son of the priest, told him he was doing wrong, he had Zechariah killed. Joash was wounded in a battle with the Syrians, but he was killed in his own bed by his servants because he had ordered Zechariah killed.
