Luke

A well-educated Gentile doctor. He wrote two New Testament books: the gospel of Luke and the book of Acts. He traveled with the apostle Paul, who called him the “beloved physician.” His writing style shows his careful attention to details and accuracy—

traits he may have learned as a doctor. Scholars believe he may have come from Macedonia (northern Greece). Tradition says he was martyred in Greece.
