James, brother of Jesus

The half brother of Jesus and writer of the book of James in the New Testament. James and his other brothers were not followers of Christ during His life. But after Jesus rose from the dead, they became believers and were in the upper room, waiting for the coming of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus appeared to James in a miraculous way after the resurrection. James became a leader in the church in Jerusalem. He was in charge when Paul and Barnabas came to Jerusalem to discuss the serious problems arising when Gentiles became believers in Christ. James was stoned to death by the Jewish high priest in AD 62, according to the Jewish historian Josephus.
