Noah
A good man who continued to do right when everyone around him was doing wrong. When God sent the flood that destroyed most of the known population, Noah was about six hundred years old. Noah and his three sons (Shem, Ham, and Japheth) and their wives took a male and female of every known animal and bird. Because of the flood, Noah and his family and the animals stayed in the ark almost a year. They had to wait until the land was dry enough so they could walk on the ground, build houses, and grow food again.
One of Noah’s first acts when he got out of the ark was to build an altar to worship God. God made an agreement with Noah, promising that He would never again send a flood to destroy all living things. As a proof of His promise, God sent a rainbow across the sky. Noah lived for 350 years after the flood.
